Quest Bar Review

A few weeks ago I was generously sent an entire case of Quest Bars and two packs of peanut butter cups,

I’d heard of Quest Bars exclusively from other bloggers; they were raised and praised and I was nonetheless intrigued.

IMG_4224Well that and the fact that I love getting stuff in the mail.

First I went to the chocolate peanut butter cups:

The nutrition facts table is stellar for all Quest Bar products; super high in protein and fiber, low in carbs, and moderate in fat and calories. It almost seems too good to be true, and for me it WAS too good to be true. I have a strong aversion/gag reflex to any kind of artificial/no calorie sweetener and although the cup initially tasted very decadent, I could not deal with the overpowering aftertaste of the stevia and sucralose. It was very unpleasant and I only manage to get through half before I threw the rest out.

I encountered this same problem with the bars that I tried next.

IMG_4236 I set aside all bars that had some form of artificial sweetner like aspartame or sucralose but all the remaining bars still contained at least some form of no calorie sweetener like stevia or erythritol. I tried the Banana Nut and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip but I still had the same problem as the cups–the overpowering sickly sweet aftertaste.

At this point I decided I needed a bit of help if I was ever going to write a review; I made some anonymous questionnaires, packed up the rest of the Quest Bars and took them to my local CrossFit gym. I set them up on a small table alongside the questionnaire and a drop box and also had the coaches tell the members of my free samples. By the time I came back from coaching the kiddos, the bars were all gone and I had my filled in questionnaires!

IMG_4649 As you can see, people provided their review of the Quest Bars upon the categories of taste, texture, overall product, and recommendation. There were 11 surveys overall, and the reviews were as follows:

From these results, the average scores were:

  • Taste: 7.7
  • Texture: 7.3
  • Overall: 7.6
  • Enjoy: 11/11 said Yes
  • Purchase: 8 said yes and 3 said no
  • Recommend to a friend: 9 said yes, 1 said no

Based on these surveys I find it safe to conclude that Quest Bars were well liked by the people who tried them. There is no doubt that the nutrition facts are fantastic, but people seemed to enjoy the taste also and the majority would recommend it to a friend.

As for me, well I can’t say I liked them or would buy them again, but that’s just my aversion to anything artificially flavored so don’t let that hold you back from trying them yourself.

This review was my own (and shared) opinion, I was not compensated by Quest Nutrition for providing this review.
